{"id":2837,"date":"2014-11-11T23:58:27","date_gmt":"2014-11-12T04:58:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/woodshms.com\/wp\/?post_type=glossary&#038;p=2837"},"modified":"2015-02-02T01:03:16","modified_gmt":"2015-02-02T06:03:16","slug":"wall-anchor","status":"publish","type":"glossary","link":"https:\/\/woodshms.com\/wp\/glossary\/wall-anchor\/","title":{"rendered":"Wall Anchor"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Wall Anchor<\/h1>\n<p>Wall Anchor &#8211; Generic term used to describe any of a large number of devices used to anchor items to a wall.\u00a0 Wall anchors generally function in one of three ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Friction anchors &#8211; The anchor is inserted into a pre-drilled hole; a screw (which also supports the item to be secured) is then driven into the anchor causing it to expand and lock against the sides of the hole.<\/li>\n<li>Self tapping anchors &#8211;\u00a0 some plastic anchors utilize over sized threads to tap into in drywall\u00a0 and then screw in snug.\u00a0 A screw can then be driven into an existing hole in the center of the anchor to secure the desired item<\/li>\n<li>Toggle anchors &#8211; Consist of a screw or bolt and a toggle.
