The floor is finished hardwood (original), and I live in a humid area so a mildew and mold resistant product would be nice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-753\" title=\"answer button\" src=\"http:\/\/woodshms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/answer-button.jpg\" alt=\"caulking answer\" width=\"199\" height=\"89\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hello Brian,<\/p>\n<p>There really shouldn&#8217;t be any cracks between the floor and base board.\u00a0 If there are substantial sized cracks you should install shoe molding. (not quarter round)\u00a0 If the cracks are small and you just want to caulk, DO NOT USE SILICONE if you ever want to paint the base board. Paint will not stick to silicone and once you apply silicone it is extremely difficult to ever completely remove it.
