Sistering

Sistering

Sistering – A method of reinforcing a structural member by nailing or otherwise attaching a stronger member to a weaker one.  Sistering is often the best option in applications where a structural member has sustained damage but would require the disruption of undamaged areas such as flooring or roofing to remove.  Sistering in a new member provides the necessary structural support while leaving the weakened member in place.
